The Love Letter


I am half way through writing a romantic novel. I wrote this piece, a love letter from the main male character to his lover, and for one reason or another, I have referenced this several times recently in various conversations about masculine and feminine energies, and I just thought it was about time I posted it here.

These days, many people are too lost in looks, image and ‘what can I get’. A loving relationship is about so much more, it’s about ‘what can I give of myself, who can I become, in the expression of my feelings, what do I have to share’.

 

The Love Letter

I ask nothing of you but love. I have no long list of conditions to be met, things that must be done, no list of changes I would make to you, no ‘laundry list’ of ways I’d like you to change, or things I’d like you to do. I don’t want or need a ‘little woman’ to cook my meals or wash my clothes or clean my house. I do not need a domestic helper, I want a best friend. I don’t need a cook, I want a soul mate. I don’t need someone to clean my bathroom, I want someone to awaken my mind, stimulate my senses and engage with my passions. Life isn’t about a big house or a fast car or a handful of possessions, life is about the people we share our time on this wonderful Earth with, life is about the connections we make, the love we share, the lives we touch and the people who touch us. Life isn’t about a widescreen TV and a BMW, it’s about who you remember fondly in the last hours of your fading life, it’s about who you cried over losing, and who cried over losing you, it’s about the hands you’ve held, the lives you touched, the souls you helped and the hope and smiles you gave.  Continue reading
